Over the holidays, I wanted some cat themed jewelry for my mom that could not be found in a mall store. I found them here, just snooping around the internet. I was so thrilled by this artist’s depiction of the feline form that I will be back to shop many, many more times! And my mom’s reaction? I was afraid she’d fall off the chair when she opened the box and took out that adorable pair of earrings! Her favorite cat passed away many years ago, a pretty little calico. “Now I can wear Sissy whenever I start to miss her!” I was afraid she’d start to cry. (She didn’t) Continue reading »
This is the time of year that many people start looking at how they live and what they can do to make their lives healthier and happier. One way we have found to do this is to grow our own food. While some can get away with growing their own food year round in their gardens, many, like my family, have to have a greenhouse in order to accomplish this task. We have found the Solexx rolls for the covering of a greenhouse to be a great choice when converting a shed or other outside structure into a grow house. Continue reading »
People are getting more and more frustrated at these times, it may because of the depression that the country is experiencing, or is it just the fast pace life that we are living. Regardless of the cause, we should be able to control ourselves and conduct ourselves accordingly. This will keep us from hurting the people that we love and of course ourselves. Keeping a proper diet and a healthy lifestyle are just the simple ways that we can combat acts of frustration from appearing in our thoughts in the first place. It has always been emphasized that a good and balanced diet will yield clean thoughts and produce positive alternatives when a hint of frustration is recognized by the brain. The emphasis somehow does not mention of medifast, though it promotes a healthy and safe diet. Doing simple exercises like brisk walking and running can also help because provides proper circulation of air to the body and of course to the brain. Stretching is also a fun way of circulating air throughout the body and brain, plus it also make our muscles and limbs stronger. Continue reading »
If you’re looking for a great little bonsai to give to a beginner or to serve as your starter bonsai, then the Dwarf Jade indoor bonsai tree is exactly what you need. This little bonsai may never get above about 15 inches tall (which is actually a good size for a bonsai, despite the “dwarf” in the name), and it can easily be grown in a very traditional bonsai look. Aging lets you know right away that the body goes through some obvious changes. But it’s maybe what you don’t see needs some paying attention to. As we age we tend to lose bone densityand strength. So it is important to put our bodies in position to stay strong and active for our health. One way we can achieve this is through strength training. Studies have shown that it is a good idea for the young and old alike. Workouts in Pilates exercises boost balance and flexibility, as well as making the body stronger. Strength training or sometimes called resistance training should be a part of any fitness program. Continue reading »
We all know that Easter is traditionally a religious holiday. Many times we forget, becoming overdone in the commercialism of the event. Life seems to be moving at a faster pace every day. Work, the kid’s need to be at practice or a game, volunteering at the school or church, or even kicking back and going to watch a football game. It’s no wonder people do not make time to cook a nutritious hot meal. Cooking doesn’t need to be time consuming. There are dozens of healthy recipes you can prepare in less then 30 minutes. In fact, many of my simplist recipes are great easy tailgating recipes.
I have several easy recipes that my family loves for dinner. As far as chicken recipes, Sweet & Sour Chicken, Paprika Chicken, and one of my favorites Roast Chicken. All have their own unique favor and style, but they all are in the skillet or oven in minutes. I also have several pasta recipes and one skillet recipes that are simple and quick. Pork Chop Skillet, Mexican Skillet, and Asian Pork Tenderloin Stir Fry, all hot and on the table in about a half hour. Crockpot and stew recipes are time savers too. My easy beef stew recipe is a family favorite too. Spend 20 to 30 minutes in the morning and a hot tender delicious dinner can be waiting for you when you arrive home.
Concerned about chlorine in your water? Think whole house water filter! One of the simplest way to get rid of chlorine, lead and a host of other contaminants is installing a whole house water filtration system. These systems are your “final” barrier to those contaminants that we are hearing more and more about on the news and Internet. They range in cost from around five hundred to several thousand, although we found that price didn’t necessarily mean better! We recently tested our water for chlorine and found out that the level coming into our home was actually higher than the level recommended for pool maintenance. Continue reading »
I’ve always loved dachshunds; this iconic breed is the one I grew up with. So did my husband, but finding a unique dachshund gift for him has been a problem. Sure there are a lot of them available, but I wanted something special, and I wanted something that would last. (He’s hard on just about everything, and I’ve yet to find a gift for him that isn’t ruined after a year or two of everyday use.) Continue reading »

If you have a lot of poker chips and like the style of the aluminum poker chip case, then this is the case for you. With room for 1000 poker chips in 10 rows of 100 this new and improved 1000 capacity Aluminum Poker Chip Case now has wood on the inside where the chips rest instead of a thin plastic wafer insert. As you know all too well if you have ever seen the previous style of case, the weight of 1000 poker chips is substantial and needs to be supported by more than plastic. Continue reading »
Two years ago I started my greenhouse experience with a small greenhouse kit that included the venting and louvers and most everything I needed to get going. It was a great way to get some experience under my belt before I move up into a larger kit, which I plan on doing next spring. I will still be using my the smaller model and am just now starting to think about how I am going to marry the two together for the maximum production. Continue reading »
Call me picky, but I do not like to just shove my camping gear into any cheap bag. I value my tools and expect them to last me years, not, not years, decades. Thus, I picked me up a Universal Nylon Stove Bag for my brand new grill stove. Any nylon bag would do but you are mistaken. On a camping trip three years ago with friend I saw cheapo bag ripped and splattered all the previously clean cooking gear into mud, plus the grill stove got nicked. Continue reading »
In Central Asia the pile rugs are a very important part of their culture. Baluch is mentioned as nomads in the area if Kirman. This area was captured by the Arabs in 644. The traditional patterns and colors are combined in a way that only the Baluch’s will reflect themselves. Most rugs are coarsely knotted with a long pile and vibrant with color. They were favored among the rich Arabs of the Persian Gulf. The demand for these caused a assembly line affect in the cottages of Kirman. You can compare the machine woven four star humidor rug to the hand-knotted rugs and the one that will stand out is price. Both being attractive rugs it will depend on your budget and what your looking to do with your room decor that matters most for you Continue reading »
Staying fit at any age is important, but as one turns fifty working out may take on an entire new urgency and it’s one that doesn’t discriminate against sex. Both men and women need to keep their muscles and bones strong. So how should one get into shape after years of neglecting their body? It may first start with a visit to your doctor to approve beginning an exercise program. Then when you pass the physical a personal trainer can sit down with you to go over a sensible program that takes your age and fitness level into consideration. Most gyms and fitness facilities have trainers on staff, but there are also very good professionals that work independent of the big box fitness centers. A consultation with one will serve you well to make sure the one that you want to work with will be dedicated in making you achieve your health goals. Continue reading »
Before you know it, Autumn will be here. When the cooler weather arrives, many of us will do a lot more indoor cooking and baking. There will also be more gatherings with family and friends with the fall and winter holidays approaching. Often when we trek off to a party at work or at one of our friends homes, we bring a hot dish or dessert along for the festivities. Before I bought myself this convenient CorningWare 3 Quart Oblong Portable Ceramic Bakeware Set, I used to have to place foil around my old baking dish and place it in a thick, double layered bag to take my food to a party. I’d try to wedge the dish on my passenger floor and hope it would slide too much and risk my food spilling out! Continue reading »
