Concerned about chlorine in your water? Think whole house water filter! One of the simplest way to get rid of chlorine, lead and a host of other contaminants is installing a whole house water filtration system. These systems are your “final” barrier to those contaminants that we are hearing more and more about on the news and Internet. They range in cost from around five hundred to several thousand, although we found that price didn’t necessarily mean better! We recently tested our water for chlorine and found out that the level coming into our home was actually higher than the level recommended for pool maintenance.
So after doing our research, we ended up with the Aquasana EQ-300 unit. Price was under $800 dollars. The great thing we liked about this filtration unit is that there isn’t any electrical connections or any back flushing required like some of the older style models. We had our plumber install it and after the initial flush, we were good to go. We aren’t going to have to replace this unit for another three years and we are told we can replace it ourselves.
